The City of Austin operates five official dog parks: Red Bud Isle (Barking Springs), Emma Long Park, Driscoll off Leash Dog Park , Harris Branch Off Leash Dog Park , and Walnut Creek . Each park has specific rules that all dog owners must follow, such as picking up after their dogs, keeping them on-leash outside of the fenced areas, and keeping them under voice control at all times among others.
Riverside Dog Park in Austin
Austin has a lot of parks for people to enjoy, but not many are designated as dog parks. One of the few is Riverside Dog Park, which is centrally located and features an off-leash area with plenty of room for your pup to run around. It’s also nice that it’s open during all hours so you can take your pooch there any time!
Riverside Dog Park is a beautiful, serene place for both humans and their pets to enjoy. There are scenic views of the Colorado River. And plenty of room for dogs to run around and play with other canines. The park is also home to many species of wildlife. This provides hours of entertainment for people who come here with their four legged friends. The facilities at Riverside Dog Park are well maintained, clean and organized. There are plenty of water stations throughout the park for thirsty dogs. Plenty of benches where owners can sit down to watch their dogs play.
A big plus is that the water’s close by if they need a quick drink! The only downside would be there are so many people walking around with their dogs it can get crowded. But overall its a great place to bring your furry friend. This dog park was one of my early favorites in town back when I first got my pup over three years ago. It provides ample space for large or small pups and has easy access to all sorts of fun things like greenbelts and running trails.
Dog Bull Creek Austin Dog Park
The second well-known dog park to make this list is Dog Pull Creek. Dog owners will find a great place to take their dogs in Austin at the Dog Bull Creek Austin Dog Park. The park is located off of Bull Creek Road. It features two fenced areas. One for small dogs under 25 pounds and another for all other sized dogs. The dog park has shade trees, benches, water stations, poop bag dispensers and trash cans making it easy for people to clean up after their pets. A separate area provides a resting spot with chairs and tables. Where pet parents can relax while watching their furry friends play.
The Dog Bull Creek Austin Dog Park is open every day from 7:00 am until 8:30 pm except Wednesdays when it closes at noon due to maintenance issues. There are no fees or permits
The Dog Bull Creek Austin Dog Park is a great place to take your pup for some fun and exercise. This dog park has two acres of off-leash area that includes both large and small dog runs, drinking fountains for dogs and their humans, poop bag stations, benches, shade trees and access to the Greenbelt trail system. There are separate areas for big dogs (over 30 lbs), small dogs (20 lbs or less) and an area where all sizes can play together in one large field. The park is well maintained with regular cleanings every morning before opening hours which include: 7:00 am – 10:30am & 5:30 pm – 9pm seven days a week.
Shoal Creek Greenbelt Off Leash Dog Area in Austin
Third on our list of Austin dog parks worth knowing about is Shoal Creek Greenbelt Dog Park. Like Dog Bull Creek, this one is a great place to visit if you’re looking for a bit of peace and quiet from the downtown madness that can sometimes just be too much for your pup. The park is smaller than some. But it does have a separate area for small dogs as well as large ones. So you won’t have to venture elsewhere if Fido is on the smaller size!
Shoal Creek has its own unique design that separates small dogs from large dogs within the same fenced area. That’s more than can be said for most of Austin’s dog parks. It is often required that you to bring your pet elsewhere if it belongs to a breed considered too small or too big for their designated spaces. The whole thing is surrounded by hills and trees, so you can always feel great about bringing your pup here no matter what part of town you live in!

Norwood Estate Dog Park is a dog park located in the heart of Austin, Texas. It is one of the most popular dog parks. As it has a large area for dogs to run and play off leash with other dogs. The Norwood Estate Dog Park is an official City of Austin facility so all users must follow city ordinances and rules at all times. Dogs who are not spayed or neutered will be required to wear a green tag on their collar when visiting this dog park, which can be obtained from your veterinarian upon request after spaying or neutering your pet. To help keep everyone safe while they’re playing together, owners must always remain within view and voice control of their dogs while at the Norwood Estate Dog Park.
Norwood Estate Dog Park is a wonderful place for dogs and their owners to get together. Visitors can expect to find all types of breeds, sizes, ages and temperaments roaming the park’s grounds. The dog park has two fenced-in play areas which are separated by size. So small dogs don’t run into large dogs that might be playing in an adjacent area. The Norwood Dog Park is open year round from 6:00 am until 10:00 pm every day. Except Wednesdays when it closes at 8:30 pm. It costs $10 per visit or $50 per year ($25 for students) to become a member of the Austin Parks Foundation. If visitors wish to use the facility on Wednesday evenings between 4pm – 8pm.
